The Right Way to Blog

Uncategorized

I make it no secret that I believe there are many people who could really benefit from joining the blogoshpere, especially politicians, elected officials, educators, and small businesses.  Obviously, if you’re thinking of starting a blog, you’ll want to do it right.

Jeremiah Owyang of Forrester Research posted a great article in his blog today about the qualities that make a good blog that people will trust. While the post was written specifically to corporate bloggers, the principles are good for other situations as well. He lays out 8 principles of a healthy blog:

  • Writing Style
  • Topics
  • Humility
  • Linking Behavior
  • Customer Inclusion
  • Dialog
  • Comment Moderation
  • Frequency
  • Read his tips on the best practices for each of these categories.

Really it all boils down to what helps you authentically connect with your clients, constituents, customers or whoever your target audience is.
